As an avid runner and soccer player with occasional injuries, I grew up knowing the importance of an effective rehabilitation. It is these experiences that gave me the desire to become a physiotherapist from a young age. Since becoming a physiotherapist, I have taken many post-graduate courses to further my learning. I am familiar with treating a wide variety of injuries from athletic injuries and post-operative injuries to pain that develops as a result of trying new activities or from a lack of an active lifestyle.
My philosophy is to involve you as the patient in your own rehabilitation as much as possible through education and exercise, which compliments my use of manual therapy and soft tissue techniques to help reduce pain and restore function as quickly as possible. I graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University in 2010 and prior to that from Redeemer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology with distinction in 2007. I am registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and am a member of the both the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations.
When I am not at work I love being hiking in the forest, making things in the kitchen from scratch and camping with my husband and our three children. I am involved in various ways in our church and the kids' school.
My role as a physiotherapist is to help you and work with you to understand how you can achieve optimal health and a pain-free life. I can help you understand possible causes for why you may be experiencing pain or what may have led to your injury as well as provide you with the information and tools you need to know what to do in order to become pain free.
It is not okay to live in pain. In most cases of orthopedic or musculoskeletal pain physiotherapy can help. In your physiotherapy sessions you will be educated about your injury or condition and we will together work towards your goals while getting rid of your pain and allowing you to return to your desired activities.
Physiotherapy services are covered by most extended health insurance companies. Direct billing is available. If you do not have insurance or you go above and beyond what your insurance covers physiotherapy fees can be paid for out of pocket.
Currently, Origin Physiotherapy does not provide services that are covered by OHIP or WSIB. If you are looking for a physiotherapy clinic in Hamilton that is covered by either of these please contact me and I will be happy to provide you a list of clinics.
